Gardening for Heroes

A big thank you goes out to everyone who supported Dirty Nails’ recent efforts to promote gardening amongst shell-shocked and wounded service personnel through the charity Help For Heroes. Events at The Exchange in Sturminster Newton, and East Stour Village Hall (Duncliffe Gardening Club), plus collection buckets in The Two Brewers Pub and Somerfield (Shaftesbury), Harts of Stur and Dike’s Supermarket in Stalbridge raised £401.50. This will be converted into 73 copies of How To Grow Your Own Food. The practical grow-your-own handbooks will be distributed to individuals within the forces for whom ‘gardening leave’ might provide peace and healing therapy.
